THRIVE Training for Clinicians
A comprehensive, evidence-based system for multidimensional integration care. From the published model to the Clinician's Manual to structured training pathways.
Why Train in the THRIVE Model
The field of psychedelic-assisted therapy is expanding rapidly, with FDA decisions on MDMA and psilocybin drawing closer and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy already available in clinical settings nationwide. Yet the majority of published psychedelic trials lack formal integration protocols. Only 14% report integration metrics, and 82% have not assessed integration fidelity. This gap represents both a clinical risk and a professional opportunity.
The THRIVE model was developed to fill this gap. It provides a structured, six-dimensional framework for psychedelic integration that is grounded in published research, clinical psychology, and neuroscience. Unlike ad hoc approaches, THRIVE offers a reproducible assessment and treatment planning system with the TRIP protocol, fidelity checklists, substance-specific adaptations, and crisis intervention protocols. Clinicians trained in THRIVE can offer clients a level of care that is both evidence-informed and systematically documented.
Training in the THRIVE model positions you at the forefront of a growing specialty. As psychedelic medicine enters mainstream healthcare, clinicians with formalized integration skills will be in high demand across private practice, hospital systems, retreat centers, and research settings. Whether you are looking to add psychedelic integration to an existing practice or build a specialization from the ground up, THRIVE provides the clinical infrastructure to do so with confidence and rigor.
Training Tiers
Designed to be modular. You do not need to master every section before beginning supervised clinical work.
Training Tier Details
The THRIVE training pathway is designed to be modular. You do not need to complete every tier before beginning supervised clinical work. Each tier builds on the previous one, deepening your clinical capacity and expanding your scope of application.
The foundation for all THRIVE-informed clinical work. You will learn the six dimensions of the THRIVE model, how they map onto clinical presentations, and how to use the Quick Reference Card and Crisis Card in session. This tier is ideal for clinicians who want to integrate THRIVE principles into their existing practice without committing to the full certification pathway. You will leave with a working understanding of the model and practical tools you can use immediately.
A deep dive into the TRIP protocol, the structured assessment and case formulation system at the heart of THRIVE. You will learn to conduct the semi-structured interview across all six facets, complete the 6-P formulation, administer safety screenings, and use the TRIP Checklist to track client progress. This tier also introduces the THRIVE Client Workbook as a between-session tool for client engagement and self-assessment.
Advanced clinical material for practitioners working with complex presentations, crisis situations, and substance-specific adaptations. This tier covers crisis intervention protocols with escalation pathways, phase-based treatment planning, and specific guidance for psilocybin, MDMA, ketamine, DMT, 5-MeO-DMT, mescaline, and ibogaine sessions. You will also learn how to adapt the model across different clinical settings and treatment modalities.
For clinicians pursuing full THRIVE certification and supervisory roles. This tier covers cultural adaptation across six or more traditions, training and fidelity assessment using the THRIVE Fidelity Checklist, long-term follow-up protocols, and how to implement THRIVE in group, retreat, and institutional settings. Advanced practitioners will also gain access to consultation groups and supervision opportunities with Dr. Singh.
What's in the Clinician's Manual
Inside, you will find: Quick Start Guide, neuroscience primer, six facets with evidence ratings, substance-specific adaptations (psilocybin, MDMA, ketamine, DMT, 5-MeO-DMT, mescaline, ibogaine), TRIP protocol with 6-P formulation, crisis intervention protocols, cultural adaptation for 6+ traditions, 8 clinical case studies, decision maps, documentation templates, and the THRIVE Fidelity Checklist.
Who Should Apply
THRIVE training is designed for licensed and license-eligible mental health professionals who want to add structured psychedelic integration and multidimensional assessment to their clinical repertoire. The model is applicable across therapeutic orientations and practice settings.
- Licensed Psychologists (PhD, PsyD) seeking a research-grounded integration framework
- Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) working with trauma, substance use, or existential concerns
- Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC, LMHC) expanding into psychedelic-assisted therapy
- Psychiatrists and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners integrating psychedelic medicine into pharmacological care
- Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT) addressing relational dimensions of psychedelic experiences
- Doctoral and Post-Doctoral Trainees building specialization in psychedelic integration during training
No prior experience with psychedelic-assisted therapy is required for Tier 1. Advanced tiers assume foundational knowledge and may require documentation of relevant clinical experience or supervision hours.
Continuing Education Credits
THRIVE training programs are currently offered through AHWI Psychology Group, P.C., based in Charlottesville, Virginia. We are actively pursuing continuing education (CE) approval through the American Psychological Association (APA) and the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) for select training tiers.
In the interim, many licensing boards accept documented training hours toward CE requirements when accompanied by a certificate of completion, learning objectives, and instructor credentials. THRIVE training includes all of these materials. Dr. Ashvind N. Singh, the developer of the THRIVE model, holds a doctorate in clinical psychology with specializations in psychopharmacology and psychedelic-assisted therapy, and has published the model in peer-reviewed literature.
For clinicians requiring pre-approved CE credits, we recommend checking with your state licensing board regarding acceptance of non-APA-approved training. We are happy to provide any documentation needed to support your continuing education submissions.
CE approval status is updated on this page as new accreditations are confirmed. For questions about CE eligibility, please contact us directly.
